I was expecting a client who had booked a shoot for headshots. as I was heading to the elevator a young lady passed me by, I got the feeling that it was her. we had exchanged emails just to confirm the date but I hadn’t met her.
it was only during the initial consultation that she told me that she was a dancer and choreographer and she needed professional head-shots to promote her business. I had shot headshots for dancers before but the guy was aspiring to be an actor. I handle every photography assignment depending on the line of business the client is in. since she was a performing artist, it was fitting that we do something more informal with creative use of lighting variations to capture different moods. though we initially started with basic headshots, we went on to do a lot of different poses in half body, full body shots. she was extremely comfortable in front of the camera and was able to offer different expressions. a lot of the poses had the gracefulness of dance moves. the shoot went very fast and during the hour, we took a lot of pictures. there were quite a few that came out absolutely great. it took her a long time to finally make her selection. she was so happy that she offered to write a review on google and yelp.
